NSF award for data science and neuroscience

September 20, 2018

NSF has awarded a TRIPODS+X grant to Yale for research at the interface of machine learning and neuroscience. The overall goal of this project is to develop a two-way channel between these fields: In one direction, we are investigating how computational principles from data science can be leveraged to understand recent empirical findings and advance theory at different levels of neuroscience. In the reverse direction, we are exploring the mechanisms of vision and cognition underlying these findings as a source of new statistical and mathematical frameworks for data analysis and interpretation.
